About Us

Who We Are ... and Why We Do What We Do

We are Supply Chain Risk Analysis & Management. (SCRAM) We are in the business of SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT. We specialize in VPM which is Vender Performance Management.   (Just one of 1000 ridiculous acronyms we should rarely use.)

SCRAM operates as a LIAISON between the Buyer and the seller, the messenger you should not kill, the neutral party who has everyone’s best interest at heart and who works ever so diligently to provide a non-threatening… no blame … environment where we can identify and work out problems existing in our supply chains.

30 years is a long time to have experiencing the same shortfalls but that is how long we have been working the supply “chain” gang. Some of you might understand the reference, others might not. Don’t worry about it.  Over that time we know the ropes ... especially in heavy industry and construction. We’ve enjoyed the intricacies of procurement within Gas & Oil, Manufacturing, Mining, Offshore pipelines and rigs, National Defense, Pulp and Paper, Environmental Engineering , Ship building and repair, Open pit and underground hard rock operations to name some of the larger projects.

The point is, we have been there at every level from heavy equipment Operations, Repair and Maintenance to repairing the Dux Scissor lift, Cat Loaders or Tamrock Drills. We have worked in paper mills, producing the massive newsprint and magazine paper roll webs, we've been there when the the first bar of gold awaited deivery to the mint.  We purchased parts for Aerospace and built sono buoys for the military keeping ours and other countries safe from attack.

You can depend on the fact that we understand what and how you are thinking. We have witnessed and addressed most of the obstacles both parties face and we can offer a solution. If there is a new problem a new solution will be forthcoming.

WHAT – Supply Chain Risk Analysis & Management (SCRAM) are in the business of:

  1. Investigation

  2. Communication

  3. Education

INVESTIGATION

Our first step is to meet with our client that is the Purchasing part of the business relationship, review and document issues negatively impacting the company supply chain process. This includes every step, from “cradle to grave|” as they say.

This includes each link of the chain from:

  • the original requisition

  • to the quote or RFP/RFQ sent to the vendor

  • the documentation

  • the relationship type

  • existing contractual agreements

  • the selection process

  • order placement

  • terms and conditions

  • shipping/receiving

  • documentation requirements

  • Invoicing

  • Payment

Issues can vary according to the industry. For instance we would be irresponsible to paint the supplier of stationery supplies to the supplier of instrumentation being sent to an offshore rig. Customers and industries differ and each customer is unique in its own way. And while both the shop and the rig both use stationery the rig is still a different animal to work with… as is each Supplier.

EDUCATION:

Someone with a knowing mind once coined the phrase to the affect “we don’t have problems, we have opportunities.”

Problems are two sided … they have a bad side (which is why they are a problem in the first place) and they have a good side (which is why we are here learning about how to solve them)

  • Problems are unavoidable.

  • Problems in business are EXPENSIVE (which is especially why we are here.) There is nothing good about losing money. Ask any shareholder, manager, president or worker. A lost nickel gets a lot more attention than a dime profit.

  • Relationships matter – this is the human side or social side of business

  • Partnerships matter - this is the melding of relationships into a common goal

This does not happen without education and problems are often the MOTIVATOR inspiring us to positive action.

Supply Chain Risk Analysis & Management is in the business of explaining the results of the investigation in a:

  • Productive

  • non-threatening

  • neutral manner.

We accomplish this through:

  1. Workshops

  2. Round Tables

  3. One on One’s

  4. Virtual technology

SOLOTIONS

The simplicity of the solution depends entirely on the complexity of the problem.

If raccoons are getting into your garbage cans nightly … it means a daily clean up. It’s costing you time, stress, aggravation and probably bad feelings with complaints from neighbors.

But the solution is simple. The problem may be big but the solution … is simple.

Build a bin or keep it in a building until the morning of collection. Most solutions are simple. The trick is identifying them.

Okay, so now let’s get down to business.

Late shipments or chronic back orders for instance, the problem is simple but the solution is complex because of all of the different parties involved. Investigation can take weeks for a layperson to unravel. It’s a raccoon of a different color.

But that’s what we do. We offer solutions. That’s our business. The solution will be based upon yur individual problem. Don’t be shy, spill your guts. We are the soul of discretion.

WHERE? - We come to you!
